4This game makes time fly!Apr 23, 2010
By Tina
First off, I was curious what this game was about. I hadn't found much information about it, other than its quite addicting. And addicting it is! However, I first went to playfirst website and downloaded a free 1 hour trial of the computer version to try. After that, I had to have it. I looked in every walmart and target within a 20 mile radius and nobody sold it. So, I went back to Amazon to order. I started the game, and I was surprised that it was so similar to the computer version. Identical buildings and all. I believe the names were all different though, and possibly different missions. But still just as addicting.
What you have to do is collect chocolate bar recipes, by talking to people and doing little missions for people, by traveling different places. Then you go to your factory (or factories if you have purchased more than one) and make your recipes. To do that, it's like a mini game where you shoot the ingredients in these spinning wheel things, to see how fast you can do that, will determine how many bars you make "per week" in the game. You have to make sure to keep stocked up on ingredients for production doesn't halt. Also, I learned quickly, don't buy other ingredients you don't plan to use right away, as they will deteriorate, and it's just a big waste of money. In your travels, you will notice that each market has different pricing, and sometimes on return visits to the same market the prices change. So shopping around sometimes gives you a good deal and then it will be time to stock up on things you are using. Some markets only sell certain items also. As you get deeper in the game, you will unlock many many places of travel, and also recipes for other types of candy that require chocolate, such as truffles. (There is more but I cannot remember what it is.. as I have yet to make it that far in the game)
This game is not huge on graphics, as nothing is animated except for that "mini game" I stated above. It just reading and traveling. I'd recommend this game for the adult gamer. I started this game, and played for almost 3 hours and was just amazed how time flew. Lol. So it's definately something you can lose track of time in.

I was surprised to find this game. I really liked playing the PC version. The game has transfered to the DS version very well. It is a fun economic/role play game. It doesn't take a whole lot of concentration to follow along and become quickly successful. Yet, it's involved enough to keep my interest. It is wasy to pick up for just a few minutes, or for an entire hour. The game will automatically "save" after you complete a new quest or make a few new aquisitions, so you don't have to start over the next time you have a few minutes to play again. Also, it seems as though the game should hold out for quite a while. There are several levels to complete (various bars, squares, infusions and truffles). Overall, a very good game.

This game is awesome!! I have played the MAC version of Chocolatier, so I was SOOOO excited to see that a version of the game for Nintendo DS is now available. Your character travels all over the world looking for recipes and special ingredients to make chocolate bars, truffles, etc. In this game, you will complete missions for various members of the Baumeister family ......you will haggle over ingredient prices with vendors.....you will sell the chocolates that you make to chocolate shops around the world....and you will meet some very "interesting" characters along the way. This is a very involved business type of game. It's chocolate bliss!!!!

3Can see appeal, but not for meFeb 23, 2012

I enjoy time management and cooking games (Diner Dash, Cake Mania, Cooking Mama, etc.), but I hesitated on trying this one because it didn't seem the same. And it wasn't. I like the business aspect of it - you need to buy/sell, travel to find ingredients, barter with others, etc. - but I tired of it quickly because it seemed to be awfully repetitive with little emphasis on time. I have heard others love this and took copious notes while playing to track everything - but that's not what I want out of my casual gaming time. I can see why many people enjoy this game, but it didn't hold my interest.
