2invasive softwareAug 27, 2010
I bought this software because Adobe is very invasive on the computer. Well, this is no better. It immediately took over my file extensions, and pop ups started. It shows promise of some good features, but I will no longer support software that uses domination techniques.

4Corel Paint Shop Pro Photo X2Aug 22, 2010
I have used Paint Shop Pro, v. 8 for years and decided to get something with more capabilities and X2 version seems to have them. I haven't had time yet to delve deeply into the application, but so far I am impressed. It is well worth purchasing or updating to. Paint Shop Pro as always been a quality application for low cost and that continues here. I heartily recommend it.

1slow and complicatedAug 18, 2010
This is the worst piece of software I have ever purchased. I an returning it. I was looking for a simple yet complete photo editing suite. Unfortunately, this is not it. It runs incredibly slow--on my brand new Toshiba laptop! It is also hopelessly complex. I was not looking for something that takes months to master. Picassa from Google--a free program--works much better, much faster, and takes about 10 minutes to learn. Don't waste your money on this. Oh and the review window is super tiny--about 3x3 and there is no way to make it bigger. Also, each time you hit Auto Fix, it makes the picture lighter and lighter. How's that for poorly written software?

1Horrible waste of time!Aug 08, 2010
I purchased this several weeks ago--only because my new Windows 7 computer wouldn't run my older Adobe Elements and this was much cheaper than a new version of Elements. What it ended up being was a ton of frustration, poor quality editing, a waste of time, and a waste of money. It locked my computer up, gave me error messages saying I didn't have enough memory--when indeed I had plenty of memory and a fast processor, etc... Enough was enough, and now I am anxiously awaiting the new Adobe I ordered on Friday to be delivered.

I'm posting this in hopes that if someone else out there is trying to save $$ and buy the Corel, don't do it. Your time and frustration are worth the extra $$ upfront for Elements.

5Like a Toyota - NOT Like a RollsJul 17, 2010
It is a complete mystery to me why any buyer - at any of the prices offered - would give this Coral package less than Four Stars. Maybe the larger and much more expensive PhotoShop programs do a little more, maybe they are a little easier to use, or maybe the Nay Sayers just hate Canadians. How would I know? I don't even own anything from PhotoShop except Elements 7.

I started editing photos using Picasa, the free download from Google. That was okay then - for my level of expertise. Later, I improved my results a little by using PhotoShop Elements 7. It was a lot more difficult to use than Picasa, but the results were worth the extra effort. Both accepted Canon RAW formats.

Now I'm using Coral Paint Shop Pro Ultimate Photo X2 - and the other smaller programs included for free. I am amazed that good User Guides, and excellent Video Instructions, are included at no additional charge. I did purchase a book for Coral's Photo X3, but just to see if it's worth the upgrade to me. It is. I'm saving up (or waiting for the price to drop when X4 comes out).

Of course all these new potentials are kind of overwhelming at first. But I can use just the easy parts or, if inspired by a one of my pictures, I can go to whatever level I'm willing to expend the effort to use.

What's all this griping about complexity and crashing. Access to many solutions (that must be complex) is desired. As far as crashes, does anyone really know why any given program crashes? They all crash. Get used to it. Take precautions. SAVE YOUR WORK FREQUENTLY. As for the sometimes complaint of running slow, my top of the line Canon Pro9000 Mark II prints slow, especially with high resolution Canon RAW photographs. Tish Tish I'm just glad that the program handles Canon RAW (and automatically saves to TIFF.)

This is a really good program(s). But, if you can afford it, BUY THE CURRENT X3 RELEASE. I hope this is helpful.
