This is my first negative review for anything I've ever purchased from Amazon.
The unit shipped did not match the unit ordered. Unit ordered was Woods Industries Model #556910 single outlet surge tap, rated at 810 joules of surge protection. Woods Industries 556910 Do it Best Surge Tap Unit received was Woods Industries Model #509884, rated at 210 joules of surge protection. The price was great, the shipping time was great (less than two days), but at 75% LESS protection, the product was NOT what I expected. The unit ordered was "heavy duty," while the unit received was definitely "lightweight." ([...]) We live on the edge of a small town where power outages are almost a routine event in the Fall and Winter months, so we need the heavy duty protection for our washer, refrigerator and freezer. (Computers, TVs, microwave and DVDs are all covered already.) Built-in computers in appliances are great for reducing energy usage, but they don't deal well with transient voltage spikes.
Amazon customer service was great. They attempted to pull a replacement order immediately, but were unable to fulfill the order with the unit requested. They arranged for a full refund and sent me a shipping-paid return label to ship the parts back literally within minutes.
Now, I'll have to find another vendor . . .
