Great promise, but completely uselessMar 11, 2007
By xyzzx After several hours of thrashing, reinstalling Java runtime environment, searching the Valuesoft website, searching the web, Tune Tools for iPod still will not detect my iPod. Tune Tools returns cryptic errors and hangs my system (XP, SP2, latest updates). Valuesoft help and support is non-existent.

No instructions. No technical support. It is worthless!! I don't understand why ValuSoft is selling this product. Its a huge rip off.

Don't BotherDec 25, 2006
By David E. Trogdon The installed failed. The application is written in Java which is not a bad thing but it needs to install a companion application called a JRE so it will run. The JRE failed misirably to install and thus the application will not run at all.
If you go to the company website [...] you get a nice message saying the domain name has expired and if you are the owner, you can renew it.
Needless to say, this application rates a big fat zero in my book.

Interface a bit confusing but it does the job!Oct 07, 2006
By Get What We Give Tune Tools does have a Help file. It is poorly laid out and really in need of a better writer (lots of spelling and formatting errors), but it does sufficiently guide you through the process for porting your music from your iPod to your computer.
My computer crashed a couple months ago and I lost all my iTunes files (close to 3000 songs). I had burned a large portion of my CD collection into iTunes and it was all going to be lost if I couldn't move the music FROM my iPod TO my computer, so that I could continue to synchronize the files as I upload more music and buy more songs via iTunes.
Tune Tools for iPod did the job and it did it quickly and, frankly, more easily than most software I've installed and used.
Some have said that Yamipod is free and that other iPod managers are free - well, that's only partly true. Yamipod will allow you five transfers a day on their freeware - otherwise, for the full release, it's the same 20 bucks you'll spend on Tune Tools for iPod.
Look, it may not be the prettiest interface, but it gets the job done.

Couldn't get it to workMay 01, 2007
By Mel Famey I, like other reviewers, spent a lot of time installing and reinstalling this software. It never recognized my ipod. It would not even load if I had my ipod connected. Don't bother with this application.
