I bought this case with the idea of not needing a laptop backpack and putting the computer in the case in my backpack. The padding is sufficient to protect the computer from books and things in the backpack, however there is no padding on the sides around the zipper so I'll still have to be careful not to set the backpack down too hard. The padding material is somewhat like high grade Nerf material, the concreting being that it may not wear well, it may get rips in the padding; but I don't know, I just got it.
The biggest concern is that it doesn't really fit my Toshiba X205-SLI1. The zipper will not close all the way. I can get the laptop in, and zip two sides, but one of the shorter sides of my laptop remains exposed. It might be possible to expand the zipper width with a little skill and a sewing machine. However I think I'm going to just bite the bullet an buy a laptop backpack.
